My husband gave me his old phone — a Smartphone. I have a very basic plan, but I liked the QWERTY keyboard and GPS. Somehow our wireless provider "knew" that I switched to a Smartphone and automatically billed me more for a data plan. How did they know? I assume the phone sends out some kind of signal. Do "quick messaging" phones (like the LG neon) do the same thing? Thanks

We wish to purchase someone a touchscreen smartphone for their Birthday and they are on the Verizon network. However, we know the person would not want to pay extra each month for a data plan to be able to use the internet. For them to be able to use the internet when within the range of a WiFi router would be enough.

Would the phone still be functional, minus the internet access when not near WiFi?

I would like a touch screen phone, but apparently any good phone you can get has to have a data plan, which I can’t get. Any suggestions?

I want to get a blackberry from my upgrade eligibility, and then sell it, although you cannot do that with blackberry phones. So i would like any suggestions on how to unlock the phone so it can be used on any verizon wireless plan and not only mine. Thanks

Is there any free GPS software for Windows Mobile 6.1 that does not use an internet connection?

I have a non-smartphone on t-mobile and I want a mytouch 3G unlocked off of ebay and I was wondering if I just put my sim card that I have now in it, will it work? I know I won’t have 3G because that’s the point because my dad doesn’t want to pay the extra 30 dollars a month.
Also will it work for a G1?

I really want a good phone but all phones from Verizon are smart phones or require a data plan. Can any phone on ATT be used without a smartphone? Would a iPhone be able to be used without having to pay for internet?
What carriers do not require a smart phone plan for smart phones?

if I don’t buy the mytouch from t-mobile it seems possible to add the standard phone internet service and use it on the mytouch……

i have a pantech pn-820 from verizon and it currently has windows mobile 5…. and i wanted to kno if there was a way to upgrade it to 6…. is there a list of requirements… software to buy… please let me know. thank you.
