How long does it take for Verizon to have complete control of your number?

Sounds like they did not do your port correctly. Your phone should be completely functional in under 3 hours. That is the time frame the FCC has set for ports. If you call in to customer service, you will find there was probably a port error, usually a result of wrong account number on the port request.
